HARTSVILLE, SC (March 22, 2025) — Standing Pines Campground & RV Resort is thrilled to announce its first wildlife release event in collaboration with Black Creek Wildlife Center. On Monday, March 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM, a rehabilitated Eastern Screech Owl will be released to its new home at Standing Pines.

This special owl—a red morph Eastern Screech Owl—was rescued earlier this year after being struck by a vehicle, which left it with a fractured tibia. Thanks to the expert care provided by Black Creek Wildlife Center staff and volunteers, the owl has made a full recovery and is ready to thrive in its new habitat.

“This is an exciting milestone for Standing Pines,” said Amy Bashor, owner of Standing Pines Campground & RV Resort. “We’re honored to provide a home for this beautiful owl. This partnership with Black Creek Wildlife Center reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship. We create opportunities for our guests to connect with nature, including wildlife.”

Standing Pines, which opened in December 2024, includes over 100 spacious campsites and more than 50 acres of pine forest near Hartsville, SC. Its natural setting, including a private 3-acre lake, provides habitat for native wildlife like the Eastern Screech Owl.

“Releasing rehabilitated animals back to safe habitats is a rewarding moment,” said Holly Sellers, Director at Black Creek Wildlife Center. “Standing Pines provides everything this owl needs to thrive: forest, water, and a community that values nature conservation.”

The public is invited to watch this release and learn more about BCWRC’s mission to protect local wildlife. The release itself will take place at approximately 11:00 AM.

Join us at Standing Pines, 2800 Bethlehem Rd; Hartsville, on Monday, March 254 at 11AM to celebrate wildlife rescue and welcome this new friend back into its natural habitat.
