    The Follower Count
    - the shiny gold standard by which we all measure ourselves online.

Many sleepless nights have been spent asking “how do I get more followers?” How do we push that number higher and higher, amassing an army of eyeballs to adore our lovingly crafted social media posts?

People have made entire careers out of mastering follower growth. Check your Instagram messages, you probably have several requests from accounts claiming guaranteed followers in the thousands (but don’t open them, it’s just bots phishing).

Healthy follower numbers are important, and certainly nice to look at, but if you’re looking to reap real rewards from your social media following, you need to build a community.

Followers are doing just that, following. They may be passively consuming your content, or they may not see it at all. But your community is made up of all the users who like, comment, share, or review your content. Fostering an active and engaged follower base will boost your reach, and help grow your follower count. More importantly, community members are also more likely to convert to sales.
    How do I create a

    community?
Here’s three quick tips to help you get started growing an active online community:

    Create Valuable Content

Make sure you’re posting content that will resonate with your target audience. Otherwise, they’ll just scroll by.

    Respond to Comments and Messages

Keeping up contact with your followers helps them form a human connection with your brand, and keeping yourself active on the platform invites others to engage with you as well.

    Ask for Feedback

Tell your followers what you want to hear from them. Making an earnest call to action will energize your fans to start a dialogue.
