Meet Dave

Hello, my name is Dave Zanoni and I am the proud owner and operator of Purrs McBarkin’, LLC.

I have been an animal lover my entire life. I have been a pet parent since I was old enough to take on the responsibility of having one.

How Purrs McBarkin’ came about?

Well, I had a “standard career” which I proudly held for nearly 36 years. I worked in engineering, I was very happy doing what I was doing; it was rewarding both mentally as well as financially; however, I yearned for a change...  After all, nearly 36 years is a long time. 

My wife was fully supportive the day I told her that I wanted to retire and open up a pet food and supply store. 

My wife (Tracy) is an animal lover as well. 

So, my choice in an “encore career” was an easy one to make. 

I am extremely happy to finally have a store which will allow me the opportunity to help animals. I want to ensure that your dog or cat gets a healthy diet. You see, Purrs McBarkin’ was created to help owners here in Hartsville and its surrounding cities in finding that place which will serve their dog or cat needs (both in nutrition as well as quality supplies). Please note; all products are researched to ensure that only quality products are offered. You will NOT find subpar grocery store pet food at Purrs McBarkin’.

When I worked in engineering, my "personal reward” was when a problem was solved or when an idea came into reality. 

My "personal reward” now is to have a customer come back into my store to tell me that their pets’ health has improved or that their pets’ coat is now shining and so on… That is what I personally call “success”.

It is with great hope that you will come downtown Hartsville and visit Purrs McBarkin’. I want to bring back the “old school” shopping experience. Sadly, the world has become so robotic and cold to the point that we somehow lost the ability to just interact “person to person”.  Too much of our purchases come from a keyboard and a “click of a mouse” and then we wait for the overwhelmed mail carrier to deliver. 

If you should choose to come to Purrs McBarkin’; I will listen to you and dedicate myself in doing everything possible to make sure both you, and (most importantly) your pet are both healthy & happy. 

Pets calm the world... It’s our duty to reward them with the best life that we possibly can.
