    Job Title: Ministry Development Director
    Reports To: Pastor
    Employment Status: Full-Time
    Job Summary
    The Ministry Development Director is responsible for the strategic development,
    coordination, and implementation of the church’s program ministries in alignment with St.
    Luke Methodist Church's mission. (St. Lukes Mission “Mantra”: Spirit Led, Christ Centered,
    Loving Others, Sharing the Gospel) This role requires strong leadership, communication,
    and organizational skills to foster spiritual growth and community outreach.

    Essential Functions
    This job description is intended to outline key responsibilities and qualifications but is not
    exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the church’s mission.
    • Program Development & Management: Plan, budget, and oversee both existing
    and new ministry programs to support the church’s mission of being a Spirit-led,
    Christ-centered congregation.
    • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the pastor to develop and
    enhance program ministries that share Christ's love and the Gospel with others.
    • Community Engagement & Outreach: Establish and nurture partnerships with
    other local Global Methodist Church (GMC) congregations and other Hartsville-area
    churches to create collaborative ministry initiatives and expand outreach efforts in
    the community.
    • Volunteer Recruitment & Leadership: Identify, train, and lead a dedicated
    volunteer team, ensuring alignment with ministry goals and individual skills.
    • Adult & Family Ministry: Develop and/or manage discipleship programs,
    educational initiatives, and integration strategies for all age groups within the
    congregation.

    March 2025

    • Children & Youth Coordination: Work with Children’s and Youth Directors to
    implement church-wide and age-specific curricula that align with the church’s
    spiritual formation objectives. Children and Youth Directors report to Pastor, not to
    this position.
    • Event Planning: Organize and execute church-wide special events that support
    discipleship, community engagement, and celebratory occasions.

    • Small Group & Discipleship Development: Establish and grow discipleship-
    oriented small groups, Bible studies, and specialized ministries such as grief

    support, addiction recovery, and new-member orientation programs.
    • Ministry Evaluation & Future Planning: Assess the effectiveness of current
    ministries and develop new programs in alignment with the goals and objectives of
    the Global Methodist Church of South Carolina, including class and band meetings.
    • Continued Learning & Certification: Engage in ongoing education and certification
    activities through the GMC of SC Lay Ministry Collective and participate in GMC
    Children, Youth, and Young Adult Collectives.
    Qualifications & Experience
    • Two-year or Four-year college degree is preferred.
    • Prior experience in ministry or related leadership roles is highly desirable.
    • Strong relationship with Jesus Christ and the ability to articulate the impact of the
    Holy Spirit in their life.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills with the ability to manage
    multiple responsibilities independently.

    • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all aspects of ministry operations.
